Chinatown is located east of downtown L.A. Off of Cesar Chaves Ave. (aka. Sunset ave. further west) It has everything from restaurants and expensive shopping, to flee markets and alley shopping, with dwindling alleys and corridors filled with cheap and bootleg stuff.
